Jonathan Maguire is a New England raised transplant who has spent the larger part of his life in Florida.  He attended law school at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida.

Prior to attending law school, he attended the University of Southern New Hampshire and graduated with a Culinary Arts degree.  He spent nearly a decade in the hospitality field and was a part owner of a restaurant in Pensacola, Florida.  He is known to make delicious food.

His initial desire in the legal field was to practice contract and business law, however after spending over 500 hours volunteering at the State Attorney’s Office in Daytona Beach, FL, he came to realize that he preferred the courtroom and interactions with the judge, jury, other attorneys and the public.  He worked as a prosecutor for the Pasco County State Attorney’s office in the Sixth Judicial Circuit for nearly six years.  As a prosecutor he tried over 50 Jury Trials ranging from the Second-Degree Misdemeanors up to Punishable by Life First Degree Felonies.  He has filed and argued hundreds of motions and resolved, whether through trial or negotiation, thousands of criminal cases during his time as a prosecutor.

After leaving the State Attorney’s office Attorney Maguire branched out on his own and continued working in the criminal defense and family law area. Currently, Attorney Maguire is one of three attorneys at the boutique family law firm Catey & Maguire Law PLLC where they specialize in family and criminal defense law serving individuals in Pasco, Pinellas, and Hernando counties.  He prides himself on getting to know the personalities and tendencies of the judges so that he can best advocate and present a client’s case to them. Additionally, he works diligently to ensure relationships with the local attorneys and prosecutors to assist his clients in negotiations so as to avoid the high expense of trial. However, his previous trial experience ensures that he is prepared to zealously litigate both family and criminal cases throughout the entire process if necessary for the best interest of clients.

Jonathan is a Member of Business Networking International, the West Pasco Bar Association, as well as a Licensed Real Estate agent.  He is married to Diane Maguire, has one tiny adult, and enjoys boating, tennis tournaments, and many outdoor activities with his family.  He supports Tampa’s local sports teams and enjoys participating in multiple local charity events.
